SATURDAY 19TH JUNE

After a night of hailstones as big as golf balls and howling wind and rain, the day started promising, then rain came down in sheets as practice started!

It was still raining as the first race was called, but not enough, so the grid was a mixture of wets, intermediates and slicks! Richard had gremlins in his GSXR and wouldn't  be taking part.

Race one round 11

The sun was out as the race got underway (Malc came in as did Rob Eley, at the end of the warm up lap, slicks and no brakes!) Jes led the Superstocks for the first three laps being pursued by Mark and Gary, Ray and Steve were cutting through the twins like a knife through butter. The sun was now awake and the track was drying out fast causing problems for Steve and Ray who were on full wets. The boys on intermediates had the advantage on the rest of the field, Mark caught and passed Jes at the end of the third lap, Gary, Ray and Steve just couldn't make headway through the slower twins (point it and fire it on the straights twins). Mark came in just a couple of bikes lengths in front of Jes, Gary third, Ray fourth and Steve fifth. fasted lap went to Jes at 1:58.80 @ 81.58 mph

RACE TWO ROUND 12

Rain, sun, rain, sun........bloody weather.......

Mark got the drop on Jes this time out of the stalls, Ray got a flyer, but Steve, Gary and Rob were up his arse! Malc had a fright on lap two when he decided to go grass tracking from on side of the track to other at Lodge. Richard and Rob pulled in on lap three (Gremlins!!). Jes was reeling in Mark all the time, it was thrilling to watch, both on the limit.......Ray was ahead of both Steve and Gary having a brilliant day at the office (Ray hadn't raced for 17 years before he joined us, Ray raced at world endurance level against Steve's Harris in the late eighties) Steve caught and passed Ray on the penultimate lap, Gary and Malc were a whisker behind Ray. The race was also hotting up for Jes and Mark on lap five, Jes caught and passed Mark at Deers Leap for the lead.........and again on the last lap....it looked like Jes had got it in the bag, on the run up to the flag Mark just managed to squeeze a little extra drive out of the 0w01 and finished just half a wheel in front of Jes. Third place went to Steve, fourth to Ray, fifth Gary and sixth to Malc. Fasted lap to Mark at 2:03.37 @ 78.55 mph
